About the book

'Beads is a work of beauty and nourishment, a mature travelogue of the human heart, a great relishing of creative expression through word and form, each bede/bead, beautifying the person who strings it, and carrying the colour and texture and robust fragrance of the terror and excitement of being alive.' - Terry Whitebeach

'These are well cared for poems by a poet who clearly respects the importance of symbols in our understanding of human history and in our everyday communication. ... Whether dealing with trade beads, prayer beads, talismans or love tokens, these poems never merely entertain or distract. They at turns seduce, challenge and enlighten, leaving the reader with an expanded vision. Surely this is one of the hallmarks of truly worthy writing.' - Jane Williams

Author profile

Lyn Reeves is a Tasmanian poet of many talents. She is perhaps best known for her expertise in haiku, as both practitioner and editor. She also founded and directs a successful small imprint, Pardalote Press. This delightful sequence, however, calls attention to the strength of her lyric verse: bright, deep, and unobtrusively global in its scope. - Rob Riel (Picaro Press)
