Biography
Stuart Solman spent his childhood in Coventry, an industrial city of the English Midlands; however, he was always drawn to the tranquillity of the countryside. Since emigrating to Australia in 1989 he has lived in Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart, and has worked as a construction cost planner, an attendant carer for people with intellectual disabilities, a farm labourer and university tutor. He has been writing and publishing poetry for nearly 20 years, and was active in the Melbourne poetry scene until 1999. He then moved to Tasmania to study in the School of English (UTAS) and the Tasmanian School of Art, and to pursue his interest in outdoor activities. Currently based in Melbourne, he plans to return to Tasmania to be closer to its people, precious mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. He has published two chapbooks, but this is his first full collection of poetry.
Stuart is one of the poets whose haiku appears in the anthology, Watersmeet: haiku.
